Can I edit the Maps in Windows PC or Macintosh PowerPoint?
Our maps can be fully edited in PowerPoint. Every state, county, country or text element is an individual item. This allows the user to pull out sections, add color, draw lines and boxes, or insert or delete text. PowerPoint has a nice collection of editing tools, located either along the bottom or along the side of your screen.
How do I customize the PowerPoint Maps for my student worksheets?
All of the elements in our PowerPoint maps are individual objects.

How do I pull several states out of the main map to highlight them?
How do I enlarge or reduce a state map?
To enlarge a single state or country, select it with the pointer. Place your curser over one of the corner handles of the selected map. Then click on the handle, hold down the mouse button and drag in a 45-degree diagonal motion to enlarge the map. Holding down the SHIFT key will keep the map proportional.
How do I enlarge or reduce a group of states?
To enlarge several states or counties, you must first GROUP them together.

How do I download a sample map?
For PowerPoint, EPS and JPG maps, click and hold on the word Download with the right button on your mouse for two seconds. Release your finger and select SAVE TARGET AS from the popup window.
For Macintosh, just use the one button on the mouse while holding the COMMAND button. Save your map onto your desktop or elsewhere on the hard drive.
For the GIF maps, click and hold the pointer on an individual map until the Save/Copy window pops up; then, save your map to your hard drive.
Why does the sample map open in the browser when I click "download?"
Microsoft Explorer is designed to open many file formats directly in the browser windows. However, you will need to save the map to your hard drive. If the maps opens in the browser, just close that window and try again. This time, hold down the right button on your mouse for about two seconds and select SAVE TARGET AS to your hard drive. Then follow the directions above.
Do you compress or use some kind of security measure on your downloadable samples?
Our maps are uncompressed PowerPoint, Illustrator EPS, GIF or JPG files.

How do I get a receipt with an online order?
When you order online you will automatically receive an e-mail receipt along with one that comes in your package. Please make sure you fill in the e-mail section on the order form. All orders by mail or fax are returned with a receipt.

Can I edit and customize these Maps?
Yes, our PowerPoint and EPS maps are flexible for easy customization and editing. Each element is a separate object. The PowerPoint maps are regular PowerPoint slides that contain the map. Each map is made of individual elements that can be filled with color, pulled out to highlight an area and/or customized using the drawing tools along the bottom of your slide window. You can edit EPS maps in Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Freehand, Flash or similar applications. The GIF and JPG maps are bitmap graphics and can be edited in Adobe PhotoShop, PaintBrush or similar tools.
Some of our maps can be used directly; others need to be opened in a certain way.
POWERPOINT maps are for PC/Windows or Macintosh PowerPoint from Microsoft. Our PowerPoint maps are full-size normal PowerPoint slides with the map on the page. Once the map has been copied to your hard drive, it will open just like any other PowerPoint file. Most maps come with all of the elements ready for customizing. In some instances, elements have been grouped to keep the map organized. To edit and change these maps, you must SELECT it with your pointer and then ungroup it using the UNGROUP command in the DRAW popup menu on the bottom far left of your screen. Deselect the map to customize any element. See below for more details.
EPS maps for both the Mac and PC should be opened from within an illustration or drawing program, such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, MacroMedia Freehand or Flash. Use the OPEN command in the pull down FILE menu to open your map. Double clicking on the map may not always work.. Our maps are in Illustrator EPS 7.0 format. If you are using IllustratorCS and the program asks if you want to update, click yes.
GIF and JPG maps will work with almost every word processing, desktop publishing, photo editing, illustration and web program on the market. You should use the PLACE or INSERT GRAPHICS commands to put these files into your document. In Photoshop or PaintBrush, use the OPEN command.
Can I edit the PowerPoint and EPS Maps?
Every element in our PowerPoint and EPS maps is a separate object that can be customized to fit your needs. The PowerPoint maps are full PowerPoint files that are completely editable. Simply click on the element to begin. You can edit your EPS maps in Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw or Macromedia Freehand. Occasionally, you will need to UNGROUP the maps before customizing.
I can't seem to place the EPS Maps into InDesign, PageMaker or QuarkXpress. What do I do now?
Make sure the Illustrator style map has been saved as an EPS map. All the Illustrator maps on the CD-ROM have been saved in PC EPS format. These will work with both PC and Macintosh applications. Our sample EPS maps download to your computer as text files and must be first opened in an illustration program such as CorelDraw, Illustrator or Freehand and then saved as an EPS file. After you save the map as an EPS file, it can be placed into your desktop publishing program.
How do I edit GIF and JPG files?
The GIF and JPG maps are bitmapped graphics. They can be edited in programs like Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Paintbrush.
How do I open a PowerPoint Map?
You can either double click on the file icon on your hard drive or open the file from inside PowerPoint using the OPEN command in the FILE pull down menu.
